Housing and Affordability

Young families cannot afford to stay. Seniors cannot afford to leave. The result is a district that is slowly being priced against itself. Richard will not accept that as inevitable.

Richard will vote to:

  • Expand programs that help seniors age in place, including home repair assistance and tax relief tied to long-term residency.
  • Support workforce housing that serves teachers, nurses, farmers, and tradespeople. Not luxury second homes.
  • Reform zoning and permitting to let towns add modest, responsible housing without bulldozing what makes them worth living in.
  • Go after short-term rental abuse where it is pulling year-round housing off the market.

What this means for District 53

[PLACEHOLDER: Local data point on median home price and rent in the four towns. A specific family or senior who has been affected. A specific opportunity (vacant lot, underused building) that could become housing with the right policy.]
