Rural Healthcare

The river valley deserves the same quality of care as Portland or Bangor. Right now, too many families drive an hour for what should be a 10-minute visit, and too many seniors skip prescriptions because the price is a choice between medicine and groceries.

Richard will vote to:

  • Protect rural health clinics from closure and expand their services so residents of Chelsea, Dresden, Pittston, and Randolph can see a provider close to home.
  • Expand mental health and substance use services, including mobile crisis response that actually reaches rural addresses.
  • Cap out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for seniors and families on fixed incomes, and back state-level price negotiation.
  • Invest in the rural healthcare workforce through loan forgiveness, training placements, and real incentives to practice in District 53.
