Last updated: 2026-04-21

This Privacy Policy describes how the Richard Goldman for Maine House 53 campaign (“we,” “us,” or “the campaign”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit richardgoldman.me, sign up to volunteer, contact the campaign, or interact with our communications. We respect your privacy and we only collect what we need to run a transparent, community-based campaign.

Who we are

Our website is richardgoldman.me. The campaign is authorized by Richard Goldman, 19 Calls Hill Rd, Dresden, ME. General inquiries: rich@richardgoldman.me. Press and media: Corrie@richardgoldman.me.

Information we collect

We collect information in three ways:

  • Information you give us. When you sign up to volunteer, contact the campaign, or share feedback, we collect the details you submit. This may include your name, email address, phone number, street address, town, zip code, and the activities you are interested in.
  • Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our web server and standard website tools record basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and the pages you view. This is used to keep the site secure and to understand general traffic patterns.
  • Cookies. The site uses cookies to support basic functionality, cache performance, and your cookie consent preferences. You can accept, reject, or customize cookies through the cookie banner at the bottom of the page.

Information we do not collect on this site

The campaign does not process donations on richardgoldman.me. Because Richard is a Maine Clean Elections candidate, qualifying contributions of $5 are handled directly through the State of Maine at maine.gov/cleanelections. Your financial information is never entered on this site. For the State’s privacy practices, see the Maine.gov privacy notice.

How we use information

  • To respond to your inquiries and requests.
  • To coordinate volunteer activities such as canvassing, phone banking, hosting events, and yard signs.
  • To send campaign updates, if you opt in to our email list.
  • To maintain site security and troubleshoot technical issues.
  • To comply with reporting obligations under Maine campaign finance law.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share limited information in the following cases:

  • Maine Ethics Commission. As a Maine Clean Elections candidate, we report required information about qualifying contributions and expenditures to the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices. Contribution reporting is handled by the State at maine.gov/cleanelections and is public record.
  • Service providers. We use standard technology providers to run the website and communicate with supporters, including our web host, email tools, and form or list services. These providers only access what they need to perform their function.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights, safety, or property.

Third-party services

Some pages on this site embed third-party content such as YouTube videos. When you interact with embedded content, the third party may collect information about your visit in accordance with its own privacy policy.

Data retention

We keep the information you provide for as long as reasonably necessary to run the campaign and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations. After the 2026 election cycle, non-essential supporter data is either deleted or retained only in aggregate form.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from emails at any time by using the link in any campaign email or by emailing us.
  • Request access, correction, or deletion of the personal information you have given us by emailing rich@richardgoldman.me.
  • Adjust cookie preferences through the cookie banner at the bottom of the page.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including HTTPS encryption for the site and access controls for campaign staff. No online service can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the site or the campaign email list.
