The Maine Education Association has endorsed Richard Goldman for State Representative in House District 53.
The MEA is Maine’s largest union of educators, representing teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff in communities across the state.
Richard has been direct about what school funding does to local budgets. The state sets the formula, the state underfunds it, and towns like ours make up the difference through property taxes. He supports a better funding formula for essential programs and services, and then fully funding it.
We have an obligation to fund education. It is a moral, ethical obligation of every citizen. You need to do it the right way, and I think the state needs to step up, and it is an obvious way to take pressure off of town budgets.
